This project is about working freely and intentionally to achieve a beautiful project that is truly YOURS, not a copy of someone else’s work. There’s no rush because the process is where the joy lives. Make a three dimensional, endless, book that expresses your thoughts and feelings.
First, we’ll collage paper to our base as a warmup and to see where the work wants to lead. Then, using the grid structure inherent in the book format, we’ll begin to add layers of personal meaning, starting with a set of inspirational and evocative words and ending with unique embellishments that add the final level of individual complexity. Our goal is to take the time to savor the process and really listen to the authentic voice inside to create a powerfully imaginative and personal piece.
Objective: Develop awareness of creative choices as you create a specific work and deepen the meaning in the finished piece behind those choices.
Class level: Enthusiastic beginner There are several steps but each phase is broken down into easily completed steps. The techniques and media involved are user friendly. The project takes from 2 – 4 hours to complete, not including drying time.
